The Municipality

Ronco sopra Ascona, with its tourist and residential vocation, its rich history and culture is also renowned for its immense and stunning view, having thus come to be known as “the balcony on Lake Maggiore”.
The church and the interesting ancient town of medieval origin, with its architectural characteristics, stand out against the lush vegetation always favoured by the Mediterranean and subtropical climate typical of this area, among the mildest of the whole sub-Alpine chain. From the heights of the beautiful Monti di Ronco to the meandering banks of the lake, where the tiny hamlet of Porto Ronco is situated, mimosas, palms, rhododendrons, citrus trees, camellias, agaves, eucalyptuses and many other exotic and Mediterranean species dab the landscape with colour every spring, offering breathtaking views of the lake.
